Restylane
Restylane is a cosmetic dermal filler that replaces lost volume and restores youthful contours to the skin and is FDA approved for the treatment of moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds.
Restylane is a sterile gel consisting of non-animal, non-human stabilized hyaluronic acid for injection into the skin to correct facial lines and wrinkles. Youthful skin is rich in hyaluronic acid. As we age, the distribution and function of hyaluronic acid in our skin gradually changes, leading to the characteristic signs of aging.
Hyaluronic acid is an important structural element found in human skin and tissue. Hyaluronic acid acts by adding volume to the tissue, shaping the contours of the face, and enhancing the fullness and appearance of the lips.
Restylane can last for 6 months or longer, but the duration of effects varies from patient to patient and can be shorter or even longer. If Restylane is reinjected before all product is metabolized, you may not require as much Restylane as you did with the initial injection.
Before your Restylane Treatment
Avoid using aspirin, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medications. St. John's Wort, or high doses of Vitamin E supplements for one week prior to your treatment, because these may increase bruising or bleeding at the injection site.
After your Restylane Treatment
As with any type of injection, you may experience bruising, slight redness, swelling, pain and tenderness following your Restylane treatment. These effects are only temporary and usually disappear within a few days to a week.
Avoid massaging, rubbing, or touching the treated areas.
Avoid strenuous exercise for 24 hours after your treatment.
The Use of Arnica and Bromelain tablets is recommended following your treatment to minimize bruising and swelling.
Avoid exposure to intense heat until swelling and redness is completely resolved.
Avoid using aspirin, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medications, St. John's Wort, or high doses of Vitamin E supplements for one week after your treatment, because these may increase bruising or bleeding at the injection site.
