Say Goodbye to Turkey Necks and Loose, Sagging Skin

Non-Surgical Neck Lift

Do you have droopy skin under your chin or small bands in your neck that appear when you talk or make different facial expressions?

Today we are talking about the dreaded turkey neck.  You know, the sagging neck skin that ruins a good photo and screams “gobble gobble!”

Droopy neck skin can appear as early as our 50s and is caused not only by loose skin and excess fat, but also by the platysma muscle, a sheet-like muscle in the neck that stretches with age and starts to droop.

The turkey neck effect is often worsened when we contract the platysma muscle by making certain facial expressions.  This causes small bands in the neck to appear as our neck muscles pull our skin forward.

Over time, our front neck muscles actually become stronger than our back neck muscles which creates these platysma bands and pulls everything forward, turkey neck and all.

The simplest way to treat a turkey neck is by relaxing the front neck muscles with a neuromodulator such as Botox, Dysport or Xeomin.  This allows the back neck muscles to become stronger which will essentially create the same effect as if you grabbed the back of your neck with your hand, pulling everything back.

With consistent treatments, that turkey neck will look a lot more swan-like!

The treatment only takes a few minutes and is virtually painless.  A very fine needle is injected in each specific muscle for a few seconds with only the minor discomfort of a tiny pinch.

You may experience slight redness or swelling at the injection sites, but only momentarily, so you can go about your normal activities immediately after receiving treatment.  You may also have slight bruising at the injection site, but nothing a little concealer can’t hide.

Botox, Dysport and Xeomin are safe for all skin types and skin colors.  However, women who are pregnant or breastfeeding, or people who have a neurological disease should not use these injectables.

For optimal results, schedule touch-ups every 3-4 months, according to how your skin responds to the treatment.
