Botox & Dysport FAQ
Q
Will Botox change my facial expressions?
A
We begin every treatment with personalized consultations and tend to inject conservatively during the first appointments to ensure natural results. It is important to receive Botox and Dysport treatments from experienced and trained practitioners who understand facial anatomy. At U Med Spa, all of our practitioners are highly experienced and trained on each procedure
Q
Are Botox treatments painful?
Q
How long does it take to see results?
A
You may begin to notice results from your Botox and Dysport treatments after 5-7 days but full results usually take up to 2 weeks to show. We treat conservatively during the first treatment to ensure natural results which sometimes means that you need follow-up appointments after 2-4 weeks from the first appointment to achieve optimal result
Q
How much does Botox or Dysport cost?
A
Botox is $14 per unit and Dysport is $5 per unit. Total cost depends on the number of units and areas treated. Most upper face treatments (forehead, crow’s feet, and frown lines) are around $250, and lip flip, gummy smile, chin dimpling, and DAO treatments are a flat $175.
Q
How many units of Botox or Dysport do I need?
A
Most forehead treatments use about 20 units of Botox, frown lines 15 to 25, and crow’s feet 10 to 15 per side. Your injector will recommend an exact amount after assessing how your muscles move
Q
Why is Dysport priced lower per unit than Botox?
A
Dysport units are measured differently, so a treatment typically uses about 2.5 to 3 times as many units as Botox. The total cost for the same area is comparable
Q
What is the downtime?
A
With any injectable treatments, there can be slight bruising, redness, or some swelling on the injection sites. These symptoms should generally dissipate within 48 hours from the treatment. To reduce the risk of bruising, we suggest all customers to avoid blood thinners like Advil, Aspirin, etc. and alcohol for 24 hours prior to the treatment
Q
How long does Botox or Dysport last?
A
Usually 3 to 5 months. First-time patients may notice it wearing off a little sooner, and results often last longer with regular treatments
Q
How often should I get Botox?
A
Most patients return every 3 to 4 months to maintain results
Q
Can I get Botox while pregnant or breastfeeding?
A
No. Botox and Dysport are not recommended during pregnancy or while breastfeeding
Q
Who performs Botox or Dysport treatments at U Med Spa?
A
All Botox and Dysport treatments are performed by our licensed Physician Assistant and Nurse injectors, under the oversight of our medical director. Read more about our expert team here
Q
Are Botox and Dysport treatments safe?
A
Botox has been FDA approved for cosmetic use for over 20 years, and Dysport since 2009. They have been broadly used with very minimal side effects and complications. The most common side effects include bruising and very mild redness/swelling at injection sites. Our licensed practitioners are happy to cover any of your questions during the appointment
Q
Can this be combined with other treatments to achieve better results?
A
Botox and Dysport treatments can be combined with dermal fillers and laser procedures such as Moxi Laser and Co2 Laser to achieve optimal results for anti-aging purposes. Botox and Dysport treatments relax facial muscles to treat fine lines and wrinkles while dermal fillers restore lost volume and soften wrinkles in areas that may have become slightly deflated over time. Laser procedures such as CO2 laser resurfacing, Moxi treatments and BBL Photofacial can improve your overall skin texture and reduce signs of aging. Our practitioners are happy to discuss holistic treatment options tailored to your individual needs during the consultation
Q
Can I get dermal fillers at the same time as Botox and Dysport?
A
Yes ā our customers frequently book appointments for both on the same day. Please select all services when booking on our website, our system will automatically increase your appointment time to reflect the services you are receiving
