If excessive sweating is interfering with your daily activities and affecting your confidence in social settings – we may have a solution for you at U Med Spa in Plano & Frisco, TX!

Hyperhidrosis is a term that describes excessive sweating. Some of us are more genetically prone to excessive sweating in areas like our palms, underarms, and our feet than others. While this is not typically a condition that requires medical attention, excessive sweating can impact the quality of our life significantly.

How do we treat hyperhidrosis?

You may know Botox as a treatment that helps smooth fine lines and wrinkles. Did you know that Botox can also help with hyperhidrosis? Botox is an FDA-approved injectable treatment that relaxes muscle movements to smooth our fine lines and wrinkles. Medically, doctors also use Botox injections to treat migraines, TMJ pain, and hyperhidrosis.

How does it work?

Botox works by relaxing muscles – when injected into our forehead, it relaxes the muscles in our forehead which helps smooth the dynamic wrinkles. When Botox is injected into our sweat glands, it inhibits the sweat glands from releasing neural signals that signal the sweat glands to produce sweat. Without these neural signals, our sweat glands produce less sweat.

Which areas can you treat?

Botox is FDA approved to treat hyperhidrosis in our underarms. However, it can be used to treat excessive sweating in our palms or the soles of our feet as well “off-label”.

What is the treatment process like?

Similar to any other Botox treatments, the total treatment time is typically less than 30 minutes. Provider will start the treatment with a personalized consultation to walk through any of your questions and concerns. Then the provider will mark the areas for injections. Treatment is quick and does not have any downtime. You may return to your normal activities immediately after your treatment. Provider will follow up with you in 2 weeks to ask about the results and may bring you back for any spots that might have been missed.

How long does it last?

Results from Hyperhidrosis Botox last anywhere from 3-5 months, typical of any Botox treatments. Our clients typically receive the treatments annually before the summer time.

How much does it cost?

Cost of the treatment typically varies by the amount of units required for the area. For large areas such as underarms, pricing ranges typically ranges between $1,000 and $1,500.
