Interested in getting a deeper laser treatment like a Co2 resurfacing laser but curious about the downtime? Here is everything you need to know.
What is Co2 Laser Resurfacing
For deeper skin concerns such as lines around the eyes, acne scars, and stretch marks, while SkinPen microneedling, chemical peels, and Moxi laser can certainly help, Co2 laser is the most powerful treatment option. Our fractional CO2 Laser gently resurfaces the skin to reduce wrinkles, improve texture, and minimize sun damage, revealing refreshed, youthful-looking skin.
Treatment itself only takes about 1 hour. We provide topical numbing and pro-nox (laughing gas) to relieve pain during the treatment. We also recommend patients to take pain relievers one hour prior to the treatment if they are worried about the discomfort. After the treatment, our laser practitioner will walk you through a list of aftercare instructions carefully before you return home.
Co2 Healing Process
It generally takes up to 10 days for your skin to heal, but the process can differ for everyone depending on their skin type, conditions, and lifestyle.

Day 1-2: Your skin will be red and swollen. You may experience some pinpoint bleeding which is completely normal. You can use cool compress to reduce swelling, and take over the counter pain medications to manage pain as needed.
Day 3-5: Redness and swelling gradually subsides, and your old skin will begin to peel off. Your skin will feel thin and flakey during this time. You will still be able to notice the square marks from the Co2 device on your skin. Don’t be too alarmed by these marks as they should gradually go away as well over the next few days. You should avoid strenuous activities during this period. Try to avoid sun exposure as much as possible.
Day 6-10: You should notice a new skin layer once your old skin is fully peeled off. Your skin should feel much less swollen and more comfortable. Continue to avoid strenuous physical exercises and limit sun exposure as much as possible. Apply sun screen with at least SPF 30 when going outside.
Months 1-3: Your skin begins to produce more collagen, gradually improving skin texture and tone.
Months 3-6: You will notice visibly brighter, smoother, and healthier skin!
