Did you know that neck is one of the first areas to show signs of aging? With delicate skin prone to wrinkles, sun damage, and sagging, neck is often the first area that gives away our biological age.
Boosting collagen in the neck area helps maintain smooth, firm skin and prevents fine lines and sagging. What are the treatments that help boost collagen in the neck area? There are multiple treatment options available for neck rejuvenation depending on your skin type, lifestyle, and tolerance for downtime. Below are a few excellent options that we recommend.
1. Skinpen Microneedling
Microneedling, also known as the collagen induction therapy, is a minimally invasive procedure that uses thin needles to puncture the top layer of the skin. As the skin heals, it naturally creates collagen and elastin which smooths skin texture and reduces the appearance of pores.
Your skin may be red for 1-3 days. You should avoid wearing makeup during the first two days.
2. Moxi Laser
Moxi is a non-ablative laser treatment ideal for patients who are looking for a powerful laser treatment with minimal downtime. Moxi Laser is also known as a “pre-juvenation” laser as it delays premature signs of aging such as fine lines, dullness, and uneven skin texture.
Your skin will appear pink on the day of the treatment and feel rough and sandy for a few days. You may apply makeup 1 day after the treatment.
3. Co2 Laser
CO2 laser beams penetrate the top layers of our skin creating tiny areas of thermal damage. This process stimulates new collagen and replaces damaged skin with healthier, tighter, and glowing skin. Co2 laser is the most aggressive and powerful laser treatment we offer.
Your skin will scab, peel, and swell for up to 7 days following the treatment and will be pink for 3-4 weeks. Plan for 7 – 10 days of healing.
4. Sofwave
Sofwave uses powerful ultrasound technology to tighten and lift the skin along the jawline and the neck. It applies controlled heat to the mid-dermis of our skin which stimulates collagen, elastin, and hyaluronic acid without any needles or puncturing the top layer of the skin.
Sofwave does not have any downtime. You can return to your normal daily activities immediately post treatment making Sofwave one of the most popular treatments for our busy patients.
5. Botox for Platysma Bands
Botox was recently FDA-approved to treat vertical neck bands called Platysma bands. Injecting Botox in this area can improve the appearance of neck laxity and create a more snatched jawline. Results typically peak at 2 weeks post treatment and can last up to 3-5 months, similar to Botox in other areas.
6. Sculptra for the Neck
If you are looking to reduce the “tech-neck” lines and thicken the skin in the neck, Sculptra may be your best option. Sculptra is an injectable treatment that stimulates collagen and elastin in your skin to gradually restore volume and improve the quality of the skin. While Sculptra is typically used in the lower face and temples to restore facial volume, it can be used “off label” in the neck area.
You may have mild swelling and bruising for up to 2 weeks after Sculptra. Results peak at 6-9 months and can last up to 2 years.
