The Moxi “Prejuvenation Laser”
Moxi laser is a gentle laser for those who are looking for smoother and softer skin but cannot go through a long recovery process. Often called a “pre-juvenation laser”, Moxi laser is ideal for patients in their late 20s to early 40s who experience early signs of aging. Compared to Co2 laser resurfacing treatments, Moxi laser is much more gentle requiring less pain tolerance and downtime. Think Moxi laser might be the right treatment for you? Here is your day-by-day guide to the treatment and recovery process for Moxi laser.
Day of Treatment
All laser treatments require a complimentary consultation a few days prior to the treatment to ensure that we are selecting the right laser treatment for the patient and that the patient understands how to properly prep for their skin before the treatment. On the day of the treatment, we ask our patients to arrive 30 minutes early for complimentary topical numbing. Treatment itself takes less than 30 minutes for the face and longer if we are treating additional areas such as the neck and chest as well. After the treatment, our laser practitioner will walk through post-care instructions before patient leaves the practice.
Moxi Laser Healing Process
Healing process can differ for everyone depending on their skin type and lifestyle. As shown below for two separate patients, the first patient experienced far faster recovery than the second patient. On average, it generally takes up to 7 days for your skin to fully heal.

Day of treatment: Your skin will be mildly red and swollen immediately after the treatment. You may feel a little sun burned, tight, and warm. You may use cold compress to reduce the redness and swelling, but make sure to clean the surface of the cold compress with alcohol wipes before use
Day 1 after treatment: Redness will intensify. You can begin to apply makeup or tinted sunscreen to cover up the redness. If your skin feels dry and flakey (which is completely normal), use a post-procedure moisturizer or any gentle, fragrance-free moisturizer to keep your skin hydrated
Days 2 – 3 after treatment: Your skin may still be red but the swelling should gradually subside. Depending on the patient, you may begin to notice MENDs (microscopic epidermal necrotic debris) on day 2 or day 3 which are small pieces of your dead skin tissue. These MENDs will make your skin feel rough and sandy until they fall off naturally. Do NOT pick at the MENDs or try to scrub them off. Picking at the MENDs can potentially lead to skin irritation and pigmentation
Days 4 – 7 after treatment: Redness and swelling should be completely gone. Your MENDs will gradually fall off over time. Resist the urge to pick at the MENDs and let your skin naturally shed them. Recovery for your neck area may be slower than the recovery process for your face, so just be more patient
Days 7 – 10 after treatment: Your skin should already feel softer! Wait for the collagen production to build over the next 1-3 months. If you are treating deeper skin concerns such as melasma, schedule your next appointment for 4-6 weeks from your initial session. We typically recommend a series of 3 sessions for optimal results
