Whether youâre just back from vacation or heading out again, travel, sun exposure, heat, and sweat can easily throw your skin off balance. It doesnât mean you need a complete skincare overhaulâbut if you’re looking for a quick refresh, we have a few low-commitment treatment options that work well in the summer.
Here are some of our favorite warm-weather treatments:
Microneedling with Botox Infusion
You may be familiar with Botox as an injectable treatment, but did you know it can also be infused into the skin during a microneedling session? When topically infused, Botox helps reduce sebum production in the sebaceous glands, which means less oil and sweat. This combination treatment improves texture, controls shine, and tightens poresâmaking it ideal for heat and humidity.
The appointment takes about 30 minutes and involves minimal downtime. Your skin will be red and sensitive for a few days post procedure, but you may return to normal daily activities the day after the treatment. Learn more about microneedling here.
Moxi Laser
Think laser treatments can only be done in the summer time? We may prove you wrong. Moxi is a gentle resurfacing laser thatâs safe for the summer skin. Unlike Co2 lasers and energy based treatments such as Broadband Light Therapy (“BBL Photofacial”) which can be tricky in the summer heat, Moxi is safe during the summer time. Itâs our go-to for polishing texture, evening out tone, and addressing early signs of sun damage such as sun spots and fine lines.
Each session takes around 30 minutes and has minimal downtime. Your skin will be red and sensitive for a few days post procedure, and will form MENDS (“Microscopic Epidermal Necrotic Debris”) which are tiny dark spots that will fall off in 7-10 days. You may return to normal daily activities and apply makeup the day after the procedure. Learn more about Moxi laser here.
Sofwave
Sofwave uses breakthrough ultrasound technology to boost collagen, elastin, and hyaluronic acid in the mid-dermis of our skin to tighten and lift the skin. It is most commonly used to lift the eyelids, jawline, upper arms, and above our knees. Because Sofwave does not cause any injury to the surface of our skin unlike other laser skin treatments, it is safe all-year-round with zero downtime. Patients can resume their normal daily activities immediately post treatment making Sofwave one of the most popular treatments for the summer time.
Skinvive
If your skin gets dry or âcrepeyâ in the summer heat, Skinvive might be a great option. This FDA-approved injectable hydrates the skin from the inside out, using microdroplets placed just under the surface of the skin. It boosts hydration, improves texture, and leaves the skin looking smoother and more radiant. It is FDA-approved to boost hydration for the cheeks, but can be injected under and around the eyes “off-label” as well.
We provide complimentary topical numbing for the treatment. Total treatment time is about 30 minutes including a personalized consultation. Results last up to six months. Learn more about Skinvive here.
Hyperhydrosis Botox
Hyperhidrosis means excessive sweatingâand if underarm sweat is interfering with your summer plans, Botox can help. When injected into the underarms, it reduces sweat production significantly. It does require a higher dose of Botox than a typical cosmetic treatment, but many find it worthwhileâespecially with events or travel on the horizon. Results typically last 3â5 months.
