What makes Sofwave Unique
Precise Depth
Sofwave precisely targets 0.5mm – 2.0mm below the surface of our skin. This layer of our skin is rich in collagen and elastin fibers making it the ideal zone for treating skin laxity, early signs of sagging, fine lines, and wrinkles. Precision depth control allows Sofwave to cover mid-dermis without hitting the fat layer which can cause fat atrophy or volume loss.
Optimized Energy Delivery
Sofwave‘s ultrasound energy heats the dermis to a temperature of 65-70°C for a controlled, predictable, and safe treatment outcome. Higher temperature can cause unnecessary skin damage and higher discomfort for patients. Lower temperature only leads to short-term swelling without stimulating new long-term collagen production. Temperature range of 65-70°C for Sofwave ensures patient comfort while optimizing for the best treatment results.
Maximum Treatment Coverage
Sofwave‘s Synchronous Ultrasound Parallel Beam (“SUPERB”) technology uses 7 rectangular, parallel beam transducers simultaneously to create large thermal zones, resulting in maximum treatment coverage in just one treatment. Because of this technology, Sofwave is able to cover higher percentage of our dermis in one treatment than other traditional skin tightening treatments.
Sofwave FAQ
Q
Is this treatment painful?
A
Sofwave is often well-tolerated by patients. Patients typically describe the sensation as warm pulses or zaps. Compared other skin tightening treatments such as Morpheus8, Sofwave is much more tolerable because it does not involve needles. Sofwave is also much more tolerable than the traditional ultrasound treatment, Ultherapy, because its energy delivery is more controlled and intentional
To ensure a comfortable experience, our providers provide an integrated cooling system to keep the surface of the skin cool while the heat works its magic underneath. We also provide complimentary pro-nox (laughing gas) for those who are feeling anxious about the treatment
Q
How many treatments do I need?
A
For mild to moderate skin laxity, patients typically only need one treatment per year. For more severe laxity concerns, we typically recommend 2 treatments, spaced out by 4-6 weeks
Q
When do I begin to see results?
A
Some patients report a “tighter” feeling immediately after the procedure due to the temporary contraction of collagen fibers. However, the true magic happens through neocollagenesis (the birth of new collagen). You will see the most significant lifting and smoothing effects 3 to 6 months after your treatment
Q
How long is the downtime?
A
Sofwave is a “no-downtime” procedure. You might experience a slight pinkish glow or very mild swelling immediately after, but this usually fades within a few hours. You can apply makeup and return to your normal skincare routine – and the gym -immediately after leaving the clinic
Q
Which treatments can I combine with Sofwave for best results?
A
We often recommend patients who experience both volume loss and skin laxity to combine Sofwave with biostimulating injectable treatments such as Sculptra, Radiesse, PRF EZ Gel, or PDGF. These injectable treatments boost collagen in deep dermis to volumize and strengthen the foundation of our skin while Sofwave targets mid-dermis to tighten and lift our skin
Q
How is Sofwave different from other skin tightening treatments?
A
Sofwave is non-invasive and targets mid-dermis — the optimal depth for collagen stimulation with minimal discomfort
Ultherapy goes deeper into the skin, which is often more painful for patients and can sometimes cause fat loss if not treated correctly
RF microneedling such as Morpheus8 and Genius RF treats skin texture and laxity but involves needles, more pain, and longer downtime
Q
Who is the ideal candidate for Sofwave?
A
Sofwave is perfect for patients in their 30s, 40s, and 50s who are starting to notice mild to moderate skin laxity (sagging), fine lines and wrinkles around the eyes and mouth, a “heavy” brow or “crepy” skin on the neck
Sofwave is safe for all skin types and tones, as it does not target pigment
Q
What areas can be treated with Sofwave?
A
Sofwave is FDA cleared to treat the following areas:
Brow Lift: Lifting the forehead and opening the eyes
Submental Lift: Tightening the area under the chin
Neck Lift: Improving skin laxity on the neck
Fine Lines: Smoothing “crow’s feet” and facial wrinkles
Body Laxity: It is also increasingly used to treat skin on the upper arms and above the knees

U Med approach
At U Med Spa, our approach to non-surgical skin tightening centers on the precision of Sofwave™ technology. Every session begins with a targeted assessment of your skin laxity to ensure we are delivering energy to the optimal 1.5mm depth of the mid-dermis. Unlike older ultrasound treatments, our Sofwave technique maximizes collagen and elastin stimulation while utilizing integrated cooling to prioritize your comfort and protect the skin’s surface.
Our practitioners focus on a “foundation-first” philosophy, rebuilding the structural density of your skin for a naturally lifted appearance without the downtime of surgery. Because Sofwave relies on your body’s unique biological response, we create a long-term rejuvenation plan to help you achieve smoother, tighter, and more resilient skin.
