What are PDO Smooth Threads?

PDO smooth threads is our latest service offering targeted skin rejuvenation. These filaments are composed of a biodegradable material called polydioxanone that, when placed under the skin, stimulates collagen production over time. The result? A smoother, firmer appearance that improves over time.

Are all PDO threads the same?

No, there are two main categories of PDO threads. One category is smooth threads and the other category is barbed threads. Smooth threads have smooth surface and are primarily used for collagen production and natural skin rejuvenation whereas the barbed threads are used for gripping and lifting the skin. At U Med Spa, we offer smooth threads. Smooth threads, once inserted into the skin, dissolve overtime and stimulate collagen production to tighten and strengthen our skin.

What areas can you treat with smooth threads?

These smooth threads are ideal for targeting areas like the under eyes and lines above the lips (also known as the smoker’s lines), but can also be placed in other areas of concern such as the neck. These are typically areas that are difficult to treat with fillers or neurotoxins such as Botox. Numbing is applied to ensure comfort, and the procedure is done in less than 20 minutes. Though minimally invasive, bruising and swelling can occur.

When can you see the results?

Results typically begin to appear within a few weeks and continue to improve over the next few months as collagen production increases. We typically recommend 3 sessions spaced at least 4 weeks apart, with a maintenance treatment done annually to prolong the youthful results.
